About the project
Košický kraj is an independent regional news portal for the whole Košice Self-Governing Region. It brings news from the region, towns and villages, traffic restrictions, events, sport and weather. It covers towns from Košice, Michalovce, Spišská Nová Ves and Trebišov to Rožňava, Moldava nad Bodvou, Sobrance, Gelnica, Sečovce and Slovenský raj.
The portal draws on official sources: the Košice Self-Governing Region, town offices, the DPMK transport company, the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute and other public institutions. Every news item names its source and links to the original text. Sensitive topics, such as accidents and crimes, are published only after editorial review.
Besides news, the site offers a regional map, planned outages, cinema programme, Kam s deťmi (things to do with kids), pharmacy emergency service, important contacts and a company directory. A morning news summary arrives by e-mail every day at 7:00.
