About the project
Popradský kraj is an independent regional news portal for Poprad and its surroundings, the High Tatras, Kežmarok and Spiš. It brings short news from towns and villages, traffic restrictions, events, sport and mountain weather. Each story names its source and links to the original text.
The news is based on official sources, such as town offices, the Tatra National Park, the Mountain Rescue Service, the HK Poprad club and the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute. Sensitive topics, for example accidents and mountain rescue operations, are published only after editorial review.
Besides news, the site offers service pages: weather, cinema programme, pharmacy emergency service, planned outages, a map of the region, the Kam s deťmi (Where to go with kids) tips and important contacts. A morning news digest arrives by e-mail every day at 7:00. Local businesses are listed in a company catalogue and advertising is available directly on the portal.
